Raised in Baltimore, MD, Jakob began playing drums at the age of 2 and got his performative start as the drummer for local band Legends of Et cetera at the age of 12, ultimately releasing two albums with the band before taking his love of music to Berklee College of Music in Boston.

While he began as a drum principal and always thinks of himself as a drummer first, Jakob quickly realized his life-long obsession was truly greater than music: it was sound itself. He pursued a degree in Electronic Production and Design, graduating summa cum laude from Berklee in May 2021. While at Berklee he also received the Robert Moog Award in recognition of outstanding achievement.

Jakob is one of those lucky few whose chosen profession is also his hobby. He began field recording and sampling at 14, compiling an ever-growing library of sounds. He is an avid collector of all types of synthesizers, drum machines, and vintage tape machines. His eclectic musical tastes, which run from Beastie Boys to personal hero William Basinski, have also led him to deep explorations into the possibilities of tape looping.
